Ignacio Castañeda

Ignacio Castañeda learned the basic concepts of his work at the Academy of La Esmeralda, which is part of the National Institute of fine Arts in Mexico.  His true motivation, however, stems from the influence of two major figures in contemporary Mexican Sculpture:  Francisco Zuñiga and his own brother, Felipe Castañeda.

Ignacio Castañeda faithfully projects his own surroundings and personal experience in his work.  His themes consist mainly of feminine figures that reflect somewhat intangible but profoundly human moments: love, maternity, sadness, satisfaction and happiness.  He works in stone, marble, onyx, wood or bronze.
