Hugo Ayvar started his artistic and cultural activities in 1977 in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.  In 1984 he founded the group “Playa Del Arte” (Art Beach) with which he participated in numerous expositions in Ixtapa and along the whole Costa Grande of Guerrero.

His works have a strong figurative tendency whether they are of smaller formats or murals.  Some of his murals are Santo Coyote in Guadalajara; El Revoltijo in Morelia; and Margarita Villa in Cabo San Lucas.

In 2001, the City of Zihuatanejo recognized Hugo Ayvar for his cultural trajectory.  In 2002, he completed a mural for the lobby of the Zihuatanejo City Hall.
